This is an interesting story that I haven't seen talked about in the media. Apparently Zarqawi's wife claims that the U.S. made a deal with Bin Laden. The deal was that if Bin Laden helped them nab Zarqawi, they would ease the pressure off of Bin Laden. This seems pretty far fetched, but then check out this story. It seems the CIA group responsible for hunting Bin Laden is being disbanded and this is within weeks of Zarqawi getting caught.
Interesting coincidence to say the least. So it appears that the situation plays out as follows. The Sunni and Shiia in Iraq are trying to negotiate power arrangements. The Shiia agree to give the Sunni concessions on cabinet posts if they give up Zarqawi. The Sunni, perhaps with help from Bin Laden, give up the information about Zaraqawi's wherabouts. Zarqawi is killed and within hours, the new cabinet officials are named.
Admittedly much of this is speculation, but we do know that information about Zarqawi came through third parties. It's not like a special forces operation found the guy. We were told where he was going to be and when and then US forces moved to take him out. It's rumored that Bin Laden wasn't particularly thrilled with Zarqawi's tendancy to behead people and kill Iraqi civillians, so it's entirely possible he was killing two birds with one stone here.
