Getting my arse in gear

exercise
It says much about the weather in Chicago that it gets into the upper 20's and I think, "wow sounds like good weather for a long walk".  I ended up walking about 6-7 miles today.  Haven't done that in a while but it felt pretty good.

This is also the pseudo-beginning of my return to the exercise and dieting wagon.  Tomorrow's the Super Bowl and I intend to graze and booze, hence the "pseudo" bit.  But after Sunday I'm going to be good which means:
  1. No alcohol
  2. Watching what I eat
Now you might think that having the occasional drink isn't a bad thing.  The trouble is that it's hard to be consistent when I can have a little bit.  Because I go somewhere I have just one drink, but then I want another, and I've pretty much ruined whatever efforts I've made towards losing the weight.

To that end, along my walk I also picked up my reward for this.  I got a nice bottle of whiskey that will remain sealed until I hit 180 lbs (I'm currently at 191 or so).  For all that I'm a bit disappointed that my weight is up from 185, the reality is I've kept my weight at around 190 for over a year which is really good.

Our Holiday Drink Recipe

booze
I meant to post this earlier, but for those who were at our holiday party, if you were at all curious what a Menehune Death Curse was, here's the recipe for a 6 oz glass of it:
  • 1-1/2 oz spiced rum
  • 1 0z dark rum
  • 1/2 oz light rum
  • 2 oz cream of coconut
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • Pinch of nutmeg
For a party, I recommend a blender full of it over ice (makes 36oz):
  • 9 oz spiced rum
  • 6 oz dark rum
  • 3 oz light rum
  • 12 oz cream of coconut
  • 6 oz pineapple juice
